Project Simplicity On The Drawers

For the third week of Project Simplicity I decided to clean out a dresser that has been accumulating clutter for the last 12 years. Joe and I had an awesome date night last night so I did not get to this project until today. We placed this dresser in the basement when we moved to this house 5 years ago and just kept adding little things to it to store. Most of it needed to be tossed in recycling, a little in the giveaway bag and some needed to be put in a more useful spot.

Before: The bottom drawer had paper, empty CD cases, old maps, user manuals & so much more.
Before: This drawer was full of cords. I needed Joe to decide on this stuff as I didn't know what all of it was.
Before: I found lots of old pictures here and some old audio cassettes.

After: All the drawers are empty! I'm hoping we're going to find a new place for this dresser in our guest room and now it's ready.

Natural Anti-Frizz Hair Serum

Frizzy hair is no fun- as I can attest. I've been trying for a long time to tame my unruly mane. I've been looking for something to help with the frizz my wavy hair seems to often have. I like John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Hair Serum but was looking for a natural alternative. I think I've found it and it will ease your frizziness and save you some money too.

Nothing can compare to good old fashion natural ingredients when it comes to conditioning your hair. One of the best conditioners is Jojoba plant oil. Jojoba oil is light and non greasy and is very similar to our bodies' own natural oils in texture. It's been used for centuries by Native Americans and Mexicans as a hair and skin conditioner.

Anti-Frizz Hair Serum
1/4 cup jojoba
1 tablespoon olive oil

Mix together the oils and add a few drops of essential oil for scent if you like. Put a small amount on your palm and massage through your hair. Be careful to only use a small amount or your hair will look like an oily, unwashed mess.

I prefer to put my hair oil in a small spray bottle and spray it on my wet hair and then comb through. I like that better than massaging with my hands as I have sensory issues with getting my hands messy. That's probably just me, right?

This stuff really does help with the frizziness and a little goes a long way!

Menu Plan 3/19- 3/25

We're having a lot of chicken this week, even though I've got a freezer full of beef from the quarter steer I bought. Hmmm, I'll have to plan more beef recipes for after spring break. I'm heading to Florida in a week for spring break & taking my oldest with me. That means I won't be menu planning next week & my husband will be on his own.

Weekly Menu Plan 3/19- 3/25

Monday: Orange Chicken, quinoa, salad, corn
Tuesday: Baked Haddock, rice, steamed broccoli
Wednesday: Roast Chicken, carrots, potatoes
Thursday: Burgers, Homemade Buns
Friday: Dinner out for date night
Saturday lunch:  Chicken Noodle Soup
Saturday dinner: Pizza
Sunday: You're on your own because I'll be in Florida!

Snacks: Honey Walnut Granola, Soft Pretzels
